Impressionism

The ground moved underneath my feet. It was slow at first, but it became rapid as I increased my speed. The mechanical whirring was drowned out by my steady breathing and the sound of an energetic pop song. I watched the men across the way. Their faces were strained and shiny with sweat. They did not seem to notice me as I watched them from afar. They looked like the kind of people who are focused and determined. My attention was drawn back to my aching legs and the pain in my chest. I caught my reflection in the window in front of me. I recognized the expression from the faces of the men on the other side of the glass. I felt and overwhelming wave of determination and strength, and I continued to race towards my goal.

  1. While you don't explicitly say you were working out at a gym, I got that impression from reading your post. The way you were racing toward your goal with your legs aching, and you saw guys across the room with determination made me get the impression that you were all working out at a gym, working toward your respective goals. Those descriptions, along with the music playing, gave me an impression of the setting.
